Trumpington Street Orchestra is a friendly student-run non-audition orchestra based in Cambridge open to all students, particularly those in Pembroke, Peterhouse, Downing and St Catharine’s Colleges. We rehearse weekly on Tuesday evenings during term time (7.30-9.30 PM).
We perform a wide variety of exciting repertoire, including staple classical works and film music, and put on one concert at the end of Michaelmas term and another at the end of Lent term. Last year we collaborated with the Pembroke Singers to put on a performance of Monteverdi’s Beatus Vir, arranged by Pembroke music student Sam Macdonald, and also performed orchestral works conducted by Siobhan from Peterhouse, Declan from Downing and Oscar from Catz. More details on past concerts may be found on our website.
The orchestra exists to give an opportunity for students in Pembroke, Peterhouse, Downing and St Catharine’s colleges and the wider University community to play classic orchestral repertoire in a friendly intercollegiate setting with just a small weekly commitment. It is the perfect orchestra for anyone who wants to perform with a social group of students but have plenty of time for other societies and activities.
As well as rehearsals, we have an exciting social calendar including pub trips and formal halls.
We have a detailed rehearsal schedule for Michaelmas 2019 on the 'Rehearsals' page of our website! Please do get in touch if you'd like to be involved, and we'll look forward to seeing many of you in October!
