Cambridge University Trading Society [CUTS]
The Cambridge University Trading Society is a student run society that aims to connect stock market traders across the University – whether you’re an experienced guru, someone who just started out, or if you’ve never placed an order before!
As a new society, CUTS aims to create a family of stock market enthusiasts where members can exchange expertise, market opinions and good stock finds with likeminded peers looking to boost their portfolio. We also aim to promote the advantages of smart, risk-managed trading to those who are not ready to expose their own capital by giving them access to real stock market involvement through the CUTS portfolio.
At CUTS, we take to heart that every trader starts somewhere. we understand that from not knowing what a candlestick is to selling covered calls, learning about securities trading and investing is a journey every trader must take. As such, the only criteria to join us is a curiosity about the stock market and nothing more.
For the experienced bunch who know what they’re doing, we have a number of activities to keep you invested:
1. A student run, long term investment portfolio that will be active and (hopefully) growing over the years. This helps those who want to experience real securities trading but either do not have the capital to do so, or do not have access to personal trading accounts.
2. Termly paper trading competitions with cash prizes
For the newcomers and those who are just starting out:
1. Forum for stock trading conversation and stock market discussion
2. Talks/seminars by experienced traders
Members should know that trading securities involves risk and potential loss of capital, and as such we recommend new traders to start out with paper trading (simulated money) accounts to get a grasp of the market before dipping their toes into real money investments.
