The Cambridge University Catholic Chaplaincy, more popularly known as Fisher House, was founded by papal indult in 1895, when catholics were allowed once more to read for degrees at Oxford and Cambridge. Since 1924 Fisher House, a former inn (built c1600), has been its home. The Chaplain is Monsignor Mark Langham M.A. (Cantab), STL, STD (Phone: 01223 742192). It is open every day for students from early morning until late evening. Its central location makes it an ideal location for meeting people outside college. The Fisher Society which is student run, provides a number of essential facilities such as lunch (Monday to Friday at 1-2pm) and events through out the term. There is a library that is open all the time the Chaplaincy is and a bar that opens every Friday in full term (from 8pm till 11pm). Catholic students, and those regularly attend mass at Fisher House, are automatically members of the Fisher Society and anybody else is welcome to join the events organised by the committee. Membership is free due to the generous grant given by the Cambridge University Catholic Association. For further details, please have a look at the website.
