Cambridge University Biotech Investment Society [CUBIS]
The Cambridge University Biotech Investment Society (CUBIS) was founded to enhance the ecosystem for advanced degree-holders and undergraduates alike, to understand and explore opportunities within the ever-growing biotech sector. To many, opportunities in the biotechnology sector seem limited to research and consulting roles. However, our objective is to expand this view by highlighting opportunities in equity research, hedge funds, venture capital, and investment banking where individuals can experience a good marriage of both the science they appreciate and finance fundamentals they might seek to learn. As part of this club, we will provide seminars and case-study based workshops to equip individuals with a bottom-up perspective of the sector including basic finance and financial diligence as well as more detailed scientific diligence and public market analysis. We will be inviting successful investors to give talks at our club and elicit further interest amongst the bright young scientific minds at Cambridge University. We believe that this will create a gateway for scientists and medics at Cambridge to explore additional opportunities of which they might have otherwise been unaware, thereby increasing Cambridge's presence in not only the biotech industry but also in the finance industry.
