Of respondents to the CUSU Big Cambridge Survey 2015, 83.95% of the 68 students who said that they had accessed support from their tutors reported that it was excellent. Students at Murray Edwards can easily access policies on harassment and there is a Fitness to Study policy. The Students’ Union Advice Service website is clearly linked from their College website. They do have access to a College Nurse who also provides mental health support alongside a Counsellor. College Tutors receive training in Mental Health Awareness and other relevant training on an ongoing basis. College Porters do not receive unconscious bias training.
Students who do not receive government grants can still get financial support from the college.
If students wish to intermit upon return they are recommended the University Counselling Service’s returners workshop, and they meet with their Director of Studies, Senior Tutor and tutor to make an appropriate pastoral and academic plan which could involve other University bodies if needed. Access to College and the intranet is given on a case by case basis.
