Welcome to your Week 4 Bulletin - with Bonfire Night on Wednesday this week looks sure to end with a bang! If you haven't been before, the bonfire and fireworks display on Midsummer Common is well worth checking out. I have also been reliably informed that Cambridge Advent (Cantabvent?) has also begun. I'll let you debate amongst yourselves whether or not this is a good thing.
This week your Access Officer, Helena, and I will be heading to Harrogate for the NUS Zones Conference, 2014. We'll be learning about everything that NUS is working on and helping to shape its direction in this vital General Election year. You might not always agree with everything NUS does, but the best way to make sure that students have a strong voice in national politics is to turn up to events like these and make sure the voices of Cambridge Students are heard. If you want to find out more about what we get up to, check out updates from me on twitter - @CusuPresident.
While we're away, you'll find the rest of the CUSU team at Council on Monday night (see below for details!) along with your College and Faculty reps, debating on issues like whether to support changes to the way sport is run in the University and what the CUSU Exec team should look like. If you're keen about sport, it is really vital that reps hear from you about how sport is run at Cambridge and if/how it might change so that they know how to vote to best represent you. You can do this by getting in touch with your reps directly or by coming along to Council and taking part in the discussion. There will be guides to make sure you understand how everything works and everyone will welcome your input, no matter which (if any) side of the debate you are on. If it is any extra encouragement, we will also be providing free pizza!
As for the rest of the week, make sure you check out the rest of this Bulletin to see what's going on and take the time to enjoy the Autumn festivities. If you want to get in contact with me or anyone else in the CUSU team, remember you can drop us an email or pop in for a chat and a cup of tea at our offices on the New Museums Site.
