As the dust clears from the excitement that was the General Election, CUSU is here to get you back to business as usual with the Week 3 Bulletin.
I just want to take a minute to say well done to all the students who went out and voted on Thursday and to everyone who has been politically engaged during the election. Whatever your views about the outcome, it is undeniable that the student vote had a massive impact in our city. With fewer than 600 votes between the top 2 parliamentary candidates in Cambridge and as few as 7 votes in one of the local council wards, we can be sure that students helped shape the outcome in Cambridge this year. By making our voices heard, students can help to shape the political agenda and ensure that our interests are taken into account in Westminster.
Remember though, politics doesn't end with the ballot box. To achieve positive change we have to work with our representatives and campaign for the things we care about throughout the next Parliament. With issues like tuition fees and postgrad funding set to be on the political agenda in coming years, you can be sure CUSU will be staying involved and happy to hear from you if you want to join us.
On a totally different note, if you want to contribute towards our University-focused work then take the Big Cambridge Survey now and help us gather evidence for next year's campaigns and projects. As a thank you everyone taking the survey will be entered in a £100 prize draw, AND there is a £100 prize for the JCR with the most responses.
