Welcome back to Cambridge! Hopefully you had a relaxing and restful break and a lovely Easter.
There's lots going on from CUSU's end at the start of this term - you've told us to change and we've listened.
Tomorrow we're holding an Extraordinary CUSU Council meeting to decide whether to hold a referendum to change our constitution and, amongst other proposals, to introduce a new sabbatical role in place of the Coordinator called the Campaigns and Societies Officer. This is entirely in response to consultation with your JCRs and MCRs throughout the year, and especially following our conversations with you after the elections last term. If you're interested in this and want to make your views heard, come along to Council tomorrow (details below).
Straight after this, in Week 2, we'll be running by-elections for the Welfare & Rights Officer and (should the referendum happen and you pass it!) the Campaigns and Societies Officer. If you're interested in running in the election, get in touch with me or another member of the sabbatical team to arrange some time shadowing the current officers to see what we do day to day.
We've also spent some time looking back over Lent term. You can read the sabb team's Impact Report here: http://prezi.com/bbloewy33yk2/what-did-we-do-last-term/
Lastly, look out for our Open Meeting with your Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz at 6pm on Monday 28th April at the University Centre. Come along to ask for his views on Higher Education and to hear about the university's development and strategic direction.
Have an excellent start of term and all the best for the weeks ahead!
