The CUSU-GU election campaigns start this week - exciting news I'm sure you'll agree! You will all have seen a separate email from me about the elections, so I won't go on about them here. The CUSU team hope to see many of you around and about on the campaign trail over the next 10 days.
Now for the big news and CUSU impacts of the week!
On Tuesday evening, the Women's Campaign, together with ARU Feminist Society and other groups including Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre and Women of Note, took to the streets for the annual Reclaim the Night march, speaking out against sexual harrassment and violence against women. It was an amazing event, with nearly 200 women taking part.
The CUSU-GU Welfare team ran Mental Health Awareness week, putting on talks almost every evening for you to attend. This finished with an excellent conference put on by Student Minds with over 200 students attending, making it the largest university conference of its type in the country.
The CUSU team are making our way around open meetings at as many colleges as possible for the remainder of the term. We want to hear about your concerns, issues your college/faculty/department are facing and what you think of CUSU's work this year. If you'd like to see us at your college, please just email me (email@example.com) or get in touch with your J/MCR/college SU.
We have a brand new way for you to get involved with CUSU Council! If you want an easy way to submit a motion for debate at Council, where your JCR/MCR/SU and Faculty representatives have a vote, go to this web page: http://www.cusu.cam.ac.uk/union/democracy/council/motions/
And finally! For the first time, CUSU has received funding from the NUS to run Teaching Excellence Awards. Nominations for these awards open tomorrow, Monday 24 February. You can nominate anyone in the following three categories: supervisor, lecturer and non-academic staff member. Find more information on the CUSU TEAs here: http://www.cusu.cam.ac.uk/education/teastar/
Thanks for reading and have an excellent week!
