Your voice, your students' union

It's a quieter week at CUSU as we move forward with our project to negotiate with the University about a new, better home for CUSU next summer. This is crucial for the long-term direction and development of your students' union, as we seek to become more visible and useful for all Cambridge students. Keep an eye out for our 2014-17 Strategic Plan and Vision Paper for a new CUSU building, which will be coming out in the next couple of weeks.
Last week CUSU hosted the University's first every Teaching Excellence Awards, celebrating the richness of the experience which university academics and staff members offer to students. Thanks to all of you who nominated a supervisor, lecturer or college/university staff member for an award; we had a wonderful evening on Friday and hope to get funding to expand the awards next year.
The Women's Campaign have written a report on sexual violence and harassment, which hit national news over the last week. Based on an extensive survey of Cambridge students this report gives breadth of knowledge and feedback about sexual violence among Cambridge students which has never been seen before. Lauren, the CUSU Women's Officer, will be taking this paper to university committees in the coming weeks and moving forward with the implementation of consent workshops with your JCR and/or MCR.
Don't forget to catch our new weekly article on Cambridge Tab answering any question students pose! If you've got something to ask, just stick it into a comment under the article. We're published every Thursday and you can read last week's here: http://cambridge.tab.co.uk/2014/05/09/cusu-when-was-the-last-time-you-said-sorry/
Lastly, CUSU's annual sabbatical officer elections are slowly being wound up with bye-elections this week for the CUSU-GU Welfare Officer and CUSU Coordinator. You can vote *NOW* online here: www.vote.cusu.cam.ac.uk and you can see all the manifestos here: http://www.cusu.cam.ac.uk/elections/
Voting closes at 7pm on Weds 14th May.
Have a great week and all the best to those of you doing exams,
